Introduction to Mono-type Printmaking
with Artist Printmaker Julianne Ricksecker
A mono-type is unique, a one-of-a-kind print, developed on a plate and transferred onto paper.
This is your opportunity to learn how to make a “painterly print” without the use of a press. We will discuss a variety approaches to this technique, and create at least one mono- type in the class. Materials will be provided. You are encouraged to bring sketches or other inspiration, as well as materials that might produce interesting textures or patterns, such as lace, child’s blocks, leaves, etc. If you have them, tools you could bring are: a wooden spoon or wooden spatula, brushes suitable for use with oil paint, pencils, water soluble oil paint, and a palette.
